Jeff Fischer has had a couple of careers, but his love for fine wine, and how it got that away, was always with him. In 2007 he found the perfect vineyard (Happy Canyon in Santa Barbara County), and the rest is history. He now farms fruit in six different vineyards, all in Santa Ynez or Happy Canyon, and produces seven different wines. His winemaking approach combines old and new techniques: this Demetria Grenache is foot-stomped, but also includes 20% whole clusters in the fermentation, for instance. The result is a bright and juicy red wine, great with Santa Maria style tri-tip, roasted vegetables, and/or ratatouille.
