2016 Succés Vinicola "El Pedregal" Parellada, Conca de Barberà, Spain

100% Parellada, harvested at high altitude from 50yr-old vines, fermented and aged in stainless steel. Mariona Vendrell and Albert Canela bottled their first vintage to rave reviews in 2011 when they were both 20 years old, and since then their wines have only improved. They are better known for producing fun wines of pleasure and immediacy, but El Pedregal is an aristocratic outlier, elegant and slightly austere at first sip, but ultimately generous and rewarding. Just a stunning wine.
