2011 Dom. de la Vieille Julienne "Les Trois Sources" Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhone Valley, France

Les Trois Sources is named not for the three contiguous vineyards from which it is produced, but the three springs which feed each parcel. Primarily old-vine grenache (average age 80 years) with a smattering of the lesser-known southern Rhone varieties, fermented in concrete and raised in large foudres, Les Trois Sources is the most generous of all Jean-Paul Daumen's cuvées at Domaine de la Vieille Julienne. This is a ripe and sturdy wine, perfect with lamb, but also at home with ratatouille, hard cheeses, and black olives. From the cellar at Gwen.
